Health Rocks!® is curricula for a healthy living program targeted at young people, ages 8-14.  Teens (15 – 18) can become a trained facilitator and share hands-on activities that educate youth on the consequences of tobacco, alcohol and drug use.

You are invited to attend a FREE curricula training! This is a two days of learning creative strategies, theory, and experiential activities while being trained in the NREPP approved curriculum: I’m Special.

The I’m Special curriculum is designed for 3rd & 4th grade students, focused on developing and nurturing a child’s sense of uniqueness, while teaching skills for healthy living and effective group cooperation.

Training dates are:
Tuesday, June 25 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday, June 26 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

There are 16 training slots available on a first come, first serve basis.  So register TODAY  

 

What’s included:

  •   Free I’m Special curriculum training
  •   I’m Special curriculum manual

  •   Lunch and snacks on both training days

Prevention is the Answer Forum will be on Monday June 10th 2013 at Elon United Methodist Church, Burlington NC.

This year’s theme: Prevention Moving Forward

Registration for the event begins at 9:30 and the forum will begin at 10:15.  Pre-registration information to come.

Cost $30.00 and lunch will be provided.
Prevention certification hours will be applied for.

logo-2xLegacy is currently looking for teams of youth and adult partners to participate in the 2013 Legacy Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) in Washington, D.C.  Each year, YLI partners with leading local tobacco control programs across the nation to get more youth involved and provide resources for grassroots action in targeted communities.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2013-2014 Youth Leadership Institute! Apply Here.

This year, Legacy is partnering with Campaign for Tobacco Free Kid’s Youth Advocacy Symposium. Participants will come together for joint sessions, to collaborate on an activism event, and more.  Youth must be between the ages of 13-18 on or before July 1, 2013 and currently enrolled in school or a GED program to apply.  Adults must be 21 years of age or older on or before July 1, 2013 and be a volunteer or paid staff member of the organization.
