The need to have as many members of the community actively involved in finding solutions to the issues created by substance abuse and addiction is also a challenge. This webinar will explore possibilities in each participant’s community as local identified problems are addressed as well as common barriers across most communities. A brief history of the role of the faith will enlighten participants while inspiring them to rekindle what has been significant participation in community efforts to address human services issues. Key communication tips will also be presented. The experiences of the consultant in working with a variety of faith communities will shed light on how to move towards greater involvement.

The NCCI program seeks to support coalitions in building capacity and implementing effective evidence-based and promising strategies, including environmental strategies, to promote substance-free communities.  Year one of this grant program is designed to provide communities with intensive training and technical assistance to help them build their capacity to tackle the challenging issues they face related to substance use and abuse. We are pleased to announce that funds will be made available (up to $30,000 per site in the first year) for up to 8 substance abuse prevention coalitions in North Carolina to strengthen their capacity to
