Annual Luncheon and Professional Development Workshop

September 12, 2012 at The Westin Charlotte

Training 8:15 AM – 11:15 AM — Awards Luncheon 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM

Professional Training – “Understanding How the Brain Can Trigger and Avoid Substance Abuse”: 3 hours CE credits pending NCSAPPB approval. Horacio Sanchez will explain the regions of the brain involved in addiction and a range of behavioral disorders. Attendees will learn about the role addiction plays in a range of human behaviors and, more importantly, what the brain requires in recovery.

Attendees will also learn: the role of the nucleus accumbens in addiction, the role of the insula in social interaction and behaviors, the correlations to eating and sleeping patterns, designing interventions that improve brain function.

Anuvia Awards Luncheon: This year’s annual Anuvia Awards Luncheon will honor Charles Odell and the Police Activities League. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. in the upstairs atrium. Mix and mingle with substance abuse professionals, counselors, members of law enforcement and the bar, elected officials and friends of Anuvia. This year’s Keynote Address will be ”Unlocking the Brain’s Mechanisms to Achieve a Fuller Life” presented by Horacio Sanchez.
