PREVENTION IS THE ANSWER: THE ONE VOICE FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION IN NORTH CAROLINA

Addressing Alcohol Retail Outlets in North Carolina: A Legal Analysis and a Resource to help your Community Assess its Readiness

Posted: July 18th, 2012

The NCCI Coordinating Center collaborated with alcohol policy experts, Michael Sparks, M.A., and Jim Mosher, JD, and the Durham TRY coalition to develop resources that will help Partnerships, Alliances, Coalitions, and Collaboratives (PACCs) to assess their community’s readiness to address alcohol outlet density. The legal analysis, prepared by Jim Mosher, provides information on North Carolina law and options available to locally address a community’s specific concerns related to outlet density. Michael Sparks shared the insights from this legal analysis and strategies that communities can use to assess their readiness to address outlet density during a workshop held at the Prevention is the Answer V forum held on June 12, 2012.  Both the legal analysis and workshop PowerPoint presentation may be accessed by clicking on the resource titles below.
