NCIOM Prevention Task Force Final Report “Prevention for the Health of North Carolina: Prevention Action Plan”

November 12th, 2009 by Candace Jackson

The NCIOM Prevention Task Force released its final report, “Prevention for the Health of North Carolina: Prevention Action Plan,” on October 8, 2009 at the NCIOM Prevention Summit held in Greensboro.

The Prevention Task Force studied the work of the Substance Abuse Task Force in its development of recommendations to prevent substance abuse. These recommendations are included in Chapter 6: Substance Abuse and Mental Health.

The Prevention Action Plan has been widely distributed across the state. In addition, action steps gleaned from the report will be posted on the NCIOM website within the next month. The intention of the action steps is to provide guidance in prevention activities for those groups and individuals who have the power to make a significant difference, including communities, schools, hospitals, legislators, insurers, providers, and employers.

The full report is available at http://www.nciom.org/projects/prevention/prevention.shtml.
